Continuing my recording of the end of life of this building, I am surprised that there is not really a lot of change since my last post of it in July last year . There were lots of changes between that and the one before, in November 2011 .

"Always adaptive to their environment, there are about 1000 species of animals that cats will eat." You all know how difficult it was to get shots of camera-shy Bella over the years. She seems to have adapted since Kenz's death and now does not immediately run when the camera is pointed at her. Over the last while she has allowed me to take her photo many, many times like this one at the end of May.

Pink Lady's Slipper, cypripedium acaule and Bunchberry, Dwarf Dogwood, cornus canadensis As I post this on Monday morning, I'll relate part of my plans for today: A friend from Australia is on the island for the summer and she and I both love being outdoors, hiking, plants and wildlife, etc. She hoped to see lady's slippers again and I thought I could arrange it. I called a friend to get permission to walk a piece of her woodland because it is covered with lady's slippers, PEI's designated provincial flower. She said sure and will you pick me up on your way by? Turns out she had broken two bones in her leg in January and is now on the mend and is trying to walk daily. Today will be her third day of this regimen. I am awaiting her woodland wonderland with great pleasure though she warns me that it has grown up a lot and the flowers are not as plentiful as they once were.

Every spring and fall brings at least one photo of the cedar waxwings in my garden. I mentioned in a post a couple of months ago that with all the apple trees I have, I noticed that they loved one tree's apples best. They also love the blossoms of this tree more than any other. With all the trees blooming at different times, they were in the trees in the same number as other species of birds, some of which you saw last week. When this tree bloomed it was filled with large flocks of waxwings and they stayed for days.

"Female cats are 'superfecund' (super-fertile), which means that each of the kittens in it's litter can have a different father." Every time I first greet the kittens, the one on the right, quietly comes and sits beside me. She is a female. The small black and white is a female. The larger black and white and the orange kitten are male. I have nearly made a decision on which kittens I will take; the puss on the right with the streaky coat since she seems to have chosen me and the male orange. Anyone have any name suggestions for the little female? I think the male will be called PurrC if he is indeed a purrer.
