Shouldn't that be "How Am I Different"? Anyway, LaVette is, as usual, is interesting. She's in the recording Muscle Sholes right now recording her new album. Can't wait.
Mary MacADNski: I love Bettye LaVette. Her version of Joy is my favorite.
It certainly looks a lot colder in this picture. A very lonely tree.

I'm a little biased, I must admit. I know Bettye, she's a friend, and I'm aware of how hard she works. Frankly, I don't know how she does it. She performs as hard before 300 people as she does for 4,000.
Have you had a chance to check out her website? It's a nice visit with lots of pictures, sound clips and incredible reviews from music critics world-wide. http://www.bettyelavette.com
Funny thing. Bettye as at Atlantic Records before Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle. She knows both ladies, of course.
If I have anything to do with it, her latest CD will get to the Grammy people ON TIME before the year is up. A mistake like that should never happen again, especially with I'VE GOT MY OWN HELL TO RAISE ending up on practically all of the major newspapers and magazines' "best of the year lists."
When she comes to your town, make sure you go backstage to meet her. She is one of the nicest people in show business.
Mary MacADNski: I definitely have been to her website before. I've also watched some performances on YouTube. She is known to be hard working. That's for sure. I doubt if she will ever come to Prince Edward Island, but if she does, I'll be first in line.

Oliver wrote of his being 'a little biased'.
I am TOTALLY biased!
I am also a friend [from Australia]
The lady is one of the classiest, acts in the business.
Intelligent, to the point of genius when it comes to phrasing and subtlety in delivery. Able to give the most ordinary lyric a life it just doesn't have when sung by others. Yet she can belt it out with the best of them. "A Woman Like Me" was crippled by lack of promotion & even availability, a criminal shame! The very different ".... Hell To Raise"
certainly made up for this in it's rave revues world wide.
Something you may not be aware of, The Sydney Morning Herald {Aust.]
critics voted her c.d. in their top 5 adult contemp. albums of the year 2005.
Oliver if you read this I'd very much like to hear from you.
