Mary MacADNski: From Wikipedia: On 12 June - 13 June 1987, a sculpture called Spirit Catcher by Ron Baird was moved to Barrie from Vancouver, British Columbia, where it had been exhibited as part of Expo '86. The sculpture was erected permanently at the foot of Maple Avenue on the shore of Kempenfelt Bay.

His wings look like fish knives..I like it.
Mary MacADNski: That is the coolest part of the design. These "fish knives" move. They swing in the wind. I didn't know that until I took this photo.

This is just fabulous, Mary. I love the added info from Wiki, especially since my birthday is June 13! grin I feel very connected to Native art and find this to be quite inspiring. Thanks for finally capturing it. smile
Mary MacADNski: It was my pleasure. I've had commissions for some huge stained glass windows of native art where I had complete artistic control. One is the favorite piece I've ever done.

Different viewers different opinions.... I like it when it's not entierly symmetrical. A perfect symmetry can make this boring, at least with that sky. If I would go perfect symmetrical on this one I think BW and a very interesting sky...but what do I know grin
Mary MacADNski: You all know a lot more than me, an amateur. I don't have photoshop and like the photos au naturel. Certainly if I had a professional status I would have to edit and alter the photos to tweak them more toward perfection, or to be more artistic. I certainly don't mind suggestions or helpful criticism.

I may get an editing program some day as I think it might be fun to fool around with effects and filters.

It's a vibrant sculpture, isn't it? The sort of thing I'd like to see, and would then spend ages walking round it to see all the different angles.
Mary MacADNski: It's a wonderful sculpture and we did walk around it, taking photos from different angles and watching the wing parts swaying in the breeze.
