My great asparagas crop makes a pretty nice background to this sunflower. I have two in this garden and only one in bloom. They're such show offs, sunflowers are!

What a lovely photo! Perfect everything: color, sharpness, angle...But oooooh - I'm jealous! I planted my sunflowers too late; I have a row of stalks and leaves and not a sign of a flower. I don't think there's time before the cold weather comes. Will yours have time for the seeds to mature?
Mary MacADNski: I always leave the seeds for the birds. It may be a way to get some photos of birds as a bonus. Someone gave me these as transplants. He had tons in his garden and brought some to work and to me, his boss. Knew how ro get to me. Bring a women flowers, eh?
Usually the sunflowers dwarf everything else, Mary. In this case, the asparagus crop is clamoring for attention. HA! So funny. But definitely, the sunflower will not be outdone! It's gorgeous.
Mary MacADNski: I have some shots that show it's stalk. They're very funny.
Excellent composition and nifty to use tha asparagus for a backdrop.
Is the asparagus for own use, or just for filling the garden?
Mary MacADNski: The asparagas is a vegetable crop but began in the corner of a flower bed by error twenty three autums ago. I left it there and now it is the most wonderful crop. I eat it every two days for over a month. Yum!
It's hard to find a more impressive flower than a sunflower...as you say, they are extroverts, Mary.
