I like the colours and the crazy-comb patterns in this picture, Mary.
Looks like a rather crude attempt has been made at brick-laying though.
Is this a rock that is quarried locally?
Mary MacADNski: This building is a hundred years old and is just a little toolshed on an old farm. It is right on the the water and gets lots of wind. It is weather-worn from that hundred years of wind. It would definitely be locally quarried as most old foundations are made from this same stone.

This is an excellent capture! The weathering happening in this building is amazing... I wonder how much longer this building will stay up before it collapses!
Where was this shot taken?
Mary MacADNski: It is a little outbuilding behind a farmhouse on the eastern shore of PEI on the Northumberland Strait.....just meters from the ocean. It looks very solid and doesn't look like it will collapse soon. I got quite a few photos of it but the light was very strong as it was reflecting off the water as well.

The weathered stone is fantastic you can tell the building is hundreds of years old. Love it Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Tracy. It's really beautiful and my photo doesn't really do it justice with the too bright light. If I ever go there at another time of day......

It really is amazing how the wind can do this over time, Mary. It does have a honeycomb effect, doesn't it!
Mary MacADNski: The building tells a srory of the ages. I think it's really beautiful. In Sydney, Australia there is a walkway around a part of the shoreline and the rocks look just like this. Of course, I had forgotten my camera that day.
Fascinating effect! I love it. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Rosalyn. It is a very neat building.
Strange effect of repetition, these stones are really interresting !
Mary MacADNski: They tell a story of the years.

I'd like to see a shot of the whole structure - but since you mentioned the bright light, maybe you don't want to show it if it's really over-exposed. Perhaps you could go back in the evening and shoot again...

Is the farmhouse still in use?
Mary MacADNski: Respond to my e-mail and I will send you an attachment of the whole structure. It is pretty good. I used this one to show the detail. The farmhouse is still lived in by a very old man. He is a friend of a very old man friend of mine and I occasionally take my friend there to visit his friend. I will be going again this fall.
Wow!!

Thanks for pointing this out. It does look similar, albeit at a much smaller scale.
Mary MacADNski: I don't really understand why we don't have cliffs that look like those in Sydney or the place you've photographed.
