So THAT'S what they look like. smile And there's that red dirt/clay again. Did you know that Georgia is known for its red clay??!!
Mary MacADNski: I did know that and several other places have red soil as well. Even New Jersey in some areas. Did you notice the fine little bird tracks to the right? The new format is amazing!

Wow we could be back home in my village with its very red soil. Nice squishy texture.
Mary MacADNski: It makes you want to squish it with your fingers......or toes.
I love how soft the clay looks, like it's still wet from the rain.
Mary MacADNski: It was still wet. This was early spring and mud seadon.
Good eye.. very clever shot.Rich colour.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, the colour is very rich....especially on kid's white socks.
Well done Mary, you've really good eyes to notice that !!
Like the bauxite color too !
Mary MacADNski: Rust or iron oxide is what gives us our red colour, Zebigleb. It is found in lots of places throughout the world besides the sandbar that is Prince Edward Islaand.
Very enigmatic: very
red soil
Mary MacADNski: You should try to wash that soil out of white socks!
Nice Shot, Mary, did you notice just above the raccoon print, actually looks like a raccoon's face in the mud !!!!?? smile
Mary MacADNski: That's amazing, Coleen. I do see it and yes, it looks like a raccoon with their unmistakable eyes.

That track reminds me of a bear claw - so they can be family? Amazing that the bird tracks are so light on the wet mud.

I think Coleen is referring to the 'knuckled' print - would that also be the racoon?
Mary MacADNski: Raccoons and bears aren't the same family. The largest animal we have on PEI is a coyote. Last week some tourists asked me if it wold be safe to bicycle on our trail system. They were worried about bears and couldn't believe we didn;t have them.

Very well spotted Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Raccoons are fairly common here. You just look down while walkin on dirt roads.

You could make a mould of the imprint with that kind of clay surley.smile
Mary MacADNski: I'll rely on the camera during my walks but I have a professional mold taken of a pre-dinosaur trackway that I found.
Nice color pic. Tierra arcillosa con un buen detalle de la huella. Me gusta!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Jose-Angel. I would say the raccoon was there to wash it's food, as they tend to do.

Gracias, Jose-A'ngel. Diría que el raccoon estaba allí lavarlo es alimento, como tienden para hacer.
I shall fly the flag for England...we have wonderful red clay in Devon in the Southwest of England.... but that's great clay!
Mary MacADNski: It's wonderful how we keep finding out these little facts on SC. We have a wonderful community here.
I like the colours and idea here....the border wet and dry is very interesting....
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Aksel. I like that aspect too and the colour...well, that's ingrained. It means home.
nice catch, it takes a good eye to see this.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Dotun. I always look down when it's muddy out.
Lovely shot. Leaves loads to the imagination. All the best, Dave
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, David. The imagination is a wonderful thing.
Well spotted. Where is this very red soil located?
Mary MacADNski: This is the soil of Prince Edward Island on the east coast of Canada.
Caught red-handed, so to speak. Raccoons are such pesky critters. Well spotted.
Mary MacADNski: LOL Red-footed and red-handed, noted by Red Pen. I sense a theme here.

Awesome! I have never seen a racoon foot print before!
Mary MacADNski: This was a fairly small raccoon. Some are huge!

I have never seen red clay like that. But on the other hand I have never seen raccoon either smile
Mary MacADNski: LOL. I quite often have raccoons get on my deck to steal and eat the bird seed. I never get good photos because it is at night with a flash through the window and I get a reflection. I will try really hard this winter......just for you.
