So THAT'S what they look like. And there's that red dirt/clay again. Did you know that Georgia is known for its red clay??!!
Mary MacADNski: I did know that and several other places have red soil as well. Even New Jersey in some areas. Did you notice the fine little bird tracks to the right? The new format is amazing!
Well done Mary, you've really good eyes to notice that !!
Like the bauxite color too !
Mary MacADNski: Rust or iron oxide is what gives us our red colour, Zebigleb. It is found in lots of places throughout the world besides the sandbar that is Prince Edward Islaand.
That track reminds me of a bear claw - so they can be family? Amazing that the bird tracks are so light on the wet mud.
I think Coleen is referring to the 'knuckled' print - would that also be the racoon?
Mary MacADNski: Raccoons and bears aren't the same family. The largest animal we have on PEI is a coyote. Last week some tourists asked me if it wold be safe to bicycle on our trail system. They were worried about bears and couldn't believe we didn;t have them.
I have never seen red clay like that. But on the other hand I have never seen raccoon either
Mary MacADNski: LOL. I quite often have raccoons get on my deck to steal and eat the bird seed. I never get good photos because it is at night with a flash through the window and I get a reflection. I will try really hard this winter......just for you.
