I love it, Mary!
On coming across a tree like this, I often spontaneously throw my arms around it and give it a big hug. I prefer the smooth-bark ones, as it is easier to see if I am about to cuddle a long line of Red Ants.
This one is like the bend in a sleek snake.
Mary MacADNski: Well, then. I picked the perfect song for you.
What kind of tree is this? Nice capture. Just kind of weird.
Mary MacADNski: This is a poplar or, as known in some of the world, an aspen. I'm very familiar with this type of tree and have never seen one wrinkled before. It was neat!
Nora Batty`s stockings! lol! I don`t suppose you get the comedy series `Last of the Summer Wine` over there? There is a character called Nora Batty who has become very famous for her wrinkled stockings. They`ve even named a `tea room` in her honour. Here is a link so that you can see what I am babbling on about. http://www.wrinkledstocking.co.uk/thewrinkledstock.html
Love the photograph! (:o)
Mary MacADNski: That's very funny. I only have two channels and only watch the occasional Oprah show so am not familiar. I can see the similarity though. cool!
I've been listening to the song.I don't know Alison Crowe but I love the song. She reminds me a bit of Melanie Safka. Works well with this picture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: You actually know Melanie Safka's music? Amazing! You must be old like me.
This shot certainly stirs different memories in your viewers! As soon as I saw it I was reminded of the most exotic and beautiful dress I ever owned, a VERY slinky satin evening gown I found in a thrift store in 1968, and which was later stolen from my flat. I had absolutely no use for this torch-singer's dress, and I never wore it in public, but I loved it. Maybe Alison Crowe was wearing it while she recorded the song you've linked to...
Mary MacADNski: I love how photographs, music, paintings and other art forms elicit these memories and feelings. I HOPE Alison was wearing that dress.
