What is fall without a pumpkin or two. I just love this time of year.
Mary MacADNski: We are joining the New England states and retaining daylight savings time for three extra weeks so for the first time ever, kids will start out trick or treating in daylight.(dusk)

Happy Hallowen to you too! Tis the pumpkin season and I love the look and the taste of them. Oh now this is an interesting song with a history. The song "Strange Fruit" made famous by Billie Holiday caused quite a stir when she performed it. Columbia Records refused to record it and Cafe Society, where she was performing, ordered her to close all shows in which she sang the song. Thanks for posting it.
Mary MacADNski: You are welcome. I'm glad someone is playing the songs. I knew about the history of this song. It's amazing how many songs were barred from being played and for what strange and weird reasons.
Beautiful colour in this photograph, and I didn`t know that you could get such a variety of pumpkins. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: There are many, many varieties of pumpkins. The green one is just not ripe yet. It will be orange eventually.
Happy Halloween too ! That's a big one !!
Mary MacADNski: It will probably be carved tonight.

Happy Halloween to you Mary. Great shot of various types of pumkins. I also like the Cut out of the bird, it looks like it's sitting on top of the green one.
Mary MacADNski: She has several of these cut out of herons and they have sharp stakes at the bottom so they can be stuck anywhere in the garden. She moves them around all year and I like them a lot!

A historical perspective - halloween has now graduated from a feast where someone's virgin daughter got sacrificed in a pagan ritual to the point where people wish each other a happy halloween. Excellent marketing. grin

Great picture of the 4 pumpkins. That little bit of sunshine top left could be excluded in a crop/framing.
Mary MacADNski: That's funny, Louis. I liked that bit of sunshine. No tricks for me, only treats.

I am sure she is! Lovely pumpkin smile
Mary MacADNski: She's a city dweller so gets about a hundred kids. I live in the country and get zero.
Yes, it is that time of the year, isn't it. Forgot to buy sweets and I've had about 3 knocks which I had to ignore. You should have posted a reminder yesterday Mary. grin
Mary MacADNski: Oh no! I hope they don't play tricks because they got no treats.
they look so large

never really seen one up close

Mary MacADNski: I have a treat for you. I've just created a link to some photos I took in front of a grocery store this afternoon. This pumpkin is on a standard size pallet and for additional scale I asked a man who was walking into the store to pose beside it. Have a look at this giant!

We've had some trick or treaters around. Halloween is really catching on here, but I confess I'm not a fan. I like pumpkin pie thoughsmile
Mary MacADNski: I grew up and my kids grew up loving it but I live in a rural area so don't get kids at the door. I wish i did. It's fun for the little ones as they are so excited by it all.
