At first I thought that was thin ice, Mary! You almost had me fooled. Very cool effect.
Mary MacADNski: Had a party one time and a man (who was drinking heavily) kept insisting he could see ice on our pond. It was August but an unusually cold day. He eventually had to stumble down to stick his hand in to prove it to himself. The pond had some algae on it and I could see how he thought so.
In this case it was extremely windy and the water was far from calm, looking almost solid.
All the birds seem to be looking in the same direction. Nice picture and great music
Mary MacADNski: I love "The Bob".....almost as much as "Van the Man". LOL
My guess as to why they were all facing the same way: It was a very, very windy day so they were probably backing against the wind
I know you won't agree Mary but I would crop out half of the sky and make this quite a narrow letterbox shot. However, if we both like Bob Dylan then it can't be too bad
Mary MacADNski: I LOVE Bob Dylan. I did drop this down some already - just not enough maybe.
I like the subtle tones in the sky so I'm not sure when it comes to crop out some of the sky - I especially like the little cloud in the upper right corner, don't know why...I think it has something to do with the balance.
I also like the shape of the green areas
Mary MacADNski: I like the sky too. It sets the mood. This was a couple of days before our hurricane and the wind was really fierce bringing these grey skies. It gave us some practice for the big winds to come.
wooow, two things, all of a sudden I realize the potential of the new template for these panoramic views, this is a screen filling image, and as it is, I can tell you that I felt the wide open space, I felt the wind, you made me believe for an instance that I too could fly.
Mary MacADNski: I love the new template and wonder why everyone hasn't shifted to it. This was an incredibly windy day. I had to plant my feet firmly to the ground to get this. The birds were all faced one way - backs to the wind. Glad you like this one, Patrick.
