photoblog image Moss Covered

Moss Covered

I have tons of photos of rotting, moss covered stumps.  Here is one.  I've done some drastic cutting in my archives recently and a lot of stumps are now gone.  They are supposed to disappear eventually, aren't they?

Wonderful image, Mary.
I can smell the fecundity of this place, and can hear the tiny sounds of the bugs and spiders living in its micro-Kingdom.
Mary MacADNski: This is one of my favorite smells in the world - mossy, ferny woods with rotting leaves. Quite the image to spread around isn't it?

I'm quite sure it feels as velvety as it looks, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Yes, Ginnie, and the other day I was walking in six inch deep moss. I've never seen it so thick before. It did feel like velvet and was really cool!
I have 5 hard drives on my desk top computer so I keep a lot of stuff that I probably shouldn't keep. Of course I found over the years that just as I deleted something, someone who had seen it wants to buy it.
Mary MacADNski: Isn't that the way - and not only with photos or computer files. It's with anything you throw out. You can have had it for years but the minute the garbage truck drives away with the item you've thrown away in it, you need it. There is some strange law of the universe at work here.

I've been spring cleaning my archives too Mary. I can't believe some of the shots that I quickly pressed the delete button for.
Mary MacADNski: I'm opposite, Aussie. I can't believe some of the ones I've saved.
Moss is so beautiful! I love the feel of it. I need to do some serious housekeeping with my photographs, my computer is groaning under the strain of them. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: I know what you mean. It's hard to throw files away. I'm not too bad at getting rid of photos but I can't seem to throw any music away.
I think the flash has made this look a bit unnatural. I wouldn't have minded it a bit dark and damp looking.
Mary MacADNski: I prefer brighter images and quite often my images are overexposed because of it. I am not at all drawn to dark images.

The tree is covered in its death cloak - looks velvety.

Great shot. Don't chuck too fast smile
Mary MacADNski: Isn't it gorgeous? I have so many and will put them somewhere on some website before getting rid of them.

Velvet robe keeping the stump warm. Nice emerald green, very rich looking. Cool shot Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Exactly what I see, Tracy - rich looking. Thanks.

I love mosses...its greens, textures, and thickness lay like a lush velvet blanket. There are times I just have to run my fingers over it. Thanks, Mary. Great lyrics to that song.
Mary MacADNski: I really love mosses and mossy wood and ferns and ferny woods. I have all Ruthie Foster's albums and think she is wonderful. I think even she knows she's good as one is called The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster. Here she is with an old well known folk song. http://media.putfile.com/Death-Came-a-Knockin---Ruthie-Foster
and here is another that I like:

My favorite of hers has disappeared from my music page so I will be uploading it again soon.

The soft green makes a beautiful contrast to the brown leaves, what a lovely texture this is
Mary MacADNski: I so love mossy textures. I was in a beautiful mossy woods today and last week I was in a woods with the thickest moss I've ever seen. It was truly delightful.
