I guess the stump is a toadstool stool.
Mary MacADNski: Think of all the fairies who might be dancing round this stool.

Brilliant.
What a superb picture of the whole familiy Mushroom.
This old, decaying tree-stump is proving to be very useful.
Mary MacADNski: A fungi family out for the day at the fast food joint. That's where these are - next to the parking lot of a Wendy's. Glad they know the decaying tree stump definitely would provide the better nutrition.

Terrific shot.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Aussie. Mushrooms always make good shots.
Nice ! Do you know if they can be eaten smile In this case you've no need to go to supermarket for a time smile
Mary MacADNski: I don't know if these are edible or not. There certainly are lots of them.

What a fantastic group of mushrooms, the decaying stump is very good food for them obviously.

Funny thing is I am just cooking some mushrooms at this very moment for breakfastsmile
Mary MacADNski: Believe it or not this is against the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.

'I won't give up' could apply as well. Interesting how the long dead tree still nourishes other life forms.

Sharp detial, nice mushrooms.
Mary MacADNski: Symbiotic, my friend. It works well.

The 4 years I spent living in the Appalachian region of Tennessee left me with such an appreciation and love folk music. "I'm Not Afraid to Die" by Gillian Welch is a prime example of why. Have you listened to Natalie Merchant's "The House Carpenter's Daughter?" Same soulful sound. The little mushrooms in your picture look cheerful. Nice one, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I will check out that Natalie Merchant song. Thanks.
Village for small people ! smile great photo !
Mary MacADNski: It looked so neat there by the parking lot. It belonged in the country but was here at the fast food joint. Thanks, Ferdi.

I've seen/heard Gillian Welsh in concert, Mary, so this song is soulful to me as well (as Kathryn!) and is so perfect for this photo. It makes a good sermonette, I think!
Mary MacADNski: Lucky you and it is a great song....especially for the photo of a tree stump and the symbiotic relationship with the fungi.
What a gorgeous composition. The fungi and beautiful, and it is lovely to see them in context with the tree stump. Colour is wonderful, too. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Rosalyn. It's an example of a wonderful symbiotic relationship.
Welcome to stumpworld, teeming with life. Nature wastes nothing.Nice shot Mary, nice song too.
Mary MacADNski: Just realized that it's only two days ago that I had another stump in my post. Can't get this girl out of the woods.
Toadstool skyscrapers, could be another world in theer. Well seen.
Mary MacADNski: I KNOW there's another world in there, Les, and it is wonderful. Alice said so.
Wow! Great immage!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Antonella. I take lots of photos of mushrooms along with all those photos of cats.
I don't think I've ever seen such a perfectly formed froup of fungi - a veritable fairy metropilis!! Fab. Mike
Mary MacADNski: The best thing is - it was at the edge of a parking lot of a fast food restaurant - not the woods where I spend so much time.
