Click to Play: River - Joni Mitchell River - Sarah McLachlan
A few years ago an afternoon CBC radio show was honouring Joni Mitchell for her 60th birthday and had a vote to determine the favorite Joni Mitchell song. This song won the honours. It's my favorite as well.

Lovely gentle landscape Mary. Never been a big fan of Joni Mitchell somehow too many of her songs sound like big yellow taxi!
Mary MacADNski: She changed a lot in the years. She smokes several packs of cigs a day and no longer can sing 5 octaves. Do you remember her old song Both Sides Now? She first released it in the late 60's or early 70's but her age and high pitched, girlish voice didn't do the incredible lyrics justice. She always said it was written for an older woman. She released it again in 2000 on her album of standards, Both Sides Now. In her mature voice, this is one of my favorite songs of all times. It makes more sense with this voice and doesn't sound at all like BYTaxi. http://media.putfile.com/Both-Sides-Now---Joni-Mitchell-56
