Red

Trying to stay away from white for a few days.

The western half of PEI has been hit with a major ice storm.  Power lines are down as well as many, many poles.  Elecrical crews from other provinces are assisting with repairs.  Many residents are in warmth shelters.  This weather event occurred Monday and full power is not expected for some time yet.

Luckily here in the east,  we got rain though we were without power for a few hours this afternoon.

Th radio announcer kept saying what a photographer's delight it was this morning.  Nonetheless, I'm happy we were spared.

I sure hope you're not staying away from the white stuff for the rest of us! It IS the season, you know, and I (for one) never quite get enough of it. But I can understand if YOU are over it. Thank God you had your power back on quickly. You should send these HOT leaves to the places that need their warmth!
Mary MacADNski: I had written that the day before and unthinking, said today. About 80% have power again, Two nights ago, when I wrote this it rained all night and it melted all the ice off the lines which was a tremendous help...a state of emergency averted.

Mary MacADNski: That's sumac. Here's another view:

These were taken in November.
Beautyful capture Mary. This colourful image made my day
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Richard. Better than all that snow, eh?

Mary MacADNski: Fabulous, isn't it. Here's another view:

There are supposed to be high winds and snow in Scotland today moving down to the North of England. I don't think it will reach us though. I suspect what we get is nothing compared with over there! Nice picture Mary I love the lighting on those leaves.
Mary MacADNski: This is in my yard. I was coming home after an eight km. hike and was exhausted. Coming down the driveway, I could see the brilliant red and managed to snap a few photos before I went in to collapse.

Lovely colour Mary, but you know I would not get sick of seeing the white stuff. Maybe I would think differently if I lived with it for months on end.
Mary MacADNski: I'm still not able to use my camera well, we've had another thaw, and I still am unable to drive. That's the main reason for no new snow photos. We're getting 10 cm. tonight though.

LOL at Ginnie, I think you gladly send her some tons of snow.....this picture is a lovely change from the white stuff, the lighting on the leaves is great, on the thumbnail I thought it was some exotic lady with a big red silk dress.....
Mary MacADNski: She can have all the snow she wants and borrow my snowshoes.
Have a good weekend, Astrid.

Oh well we loose power, but no storms to blame. Just politicians and bad management.

The red leaves are in great contrast to the snow.
Mary MacADNski: Only 8400 people are without power now. Red is always invigorating!

Staying away from white? But it's so interesting to photograph! Great red, in replacement smile
Mary MacADNski: It's been thawing or raining all week so there's nothing pretty to shoot. Im sure there will be plenty more opportunities.

Beautiful shades Mary. We're getting snow in parts of Ireland but so far we've been spared here in Bray...hoping (unlike you smile) to be able to post s snow scene.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Dave. If we get some nice snow, I will post more. It's been thawing or raining all week so there's nothing pretty to shoot.

How are you doing?

Nice exposure.
Excellent DOF.
Bravo.
Yvon.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Yvon from Belgium.
Great colour. The green background sets off the crimson well
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Lucy. It brightened a dreary day.
A red spring dress !
Nice !
