Every time I see a sight like this, Mary, I get tickled pink. If someone played a joke on someone else, it makes you wonder how they'd ever get their shoes back. Hmmm. I guess I laugh more knowing they're not mine.
Mary MacADNski: I had never seen this before but Aaron (ajm) says it happens in AUS too.
nice shot mary.good to know this is a world wide habbit
Mary MacADNski: I thought it was really funny. They were there for at least a month.
Do kids go home and say "Mom, I need sneakers. I lost mine." I have seen brand new ones hanging.
In Whistler there are even ski boots.
Mary MacADNski: I have so much to learn!!!

Prototypes of a new kind of chair-lift...I know you have a little snow in PEI, Mary, but do you also have ski resorts?
Mary MacADNski: We have a small ski place and they will be happy today - another big snow. It can get tiring.

lol, not quite what you would expect to see when you look up.

I was walking down a road in rural Guatemala and came across a baby doll's head, crushed on the dirt. A half mile or so later, I discovered the body of the doll hanging from a telephone wire high above. I wish I had my camera! It's funny the things people toss up into the air, isn't it?
Mary MacADNski: Someone was angry to crush that dolly.

Your tittle is heard so many times here in the house, I am glad I don't have to mention to him...look outside....somewhere up in the sky...yes we can laugh about it, but shame on 'them', great capture though grin
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Astrid. I am always looking up at the eagles.

Great shot! Are these actually hanging from a telephone wire and if so, how on earth did they get there? Very amusing.
Ingrid
Mary MacADNski: They are hanging from the electricity wires - directly above a bust street. Here are two explanations I have heard today. Fitst from Michael: Do kids go home and say "Mom, I need sneakers. I lost mine." I have seen brand new ones hanging.
In Whistler there are even ski boots.

Next from Louis: Two sneakers tied by the laces. The local bully comes along, grab them off a kid, flings it in the air and lo they get stuck on the telephone wires or a big tree.

I'd never heard of either.

I have seen this string of vents happening.

Notwithstanding you have made a great composition of this evidence.
Mary MacADNski: Strange that I had never seen this before. Here's another explanation from Michael:

Where my sister lives they hang a santa (made using stuffed panty hose)from the wires.
No-one sees them do it, the police have even tried to catch them as it's considered dangerous. Always appears in the week before Cristmas in the early AM. This has been going on for years and it still remains a mystery as to who.
Mary MacADNski: We could almost consider the hanging santa public art.
Beautyful and unusual scene. You captured it very well Mary. Well done!
Mary MacADNski: Sure is unusual!

Some poor kid had to go home and explain why he/she needs a new pair of sneakers for school..grin
Well spotted Marysmile
Mary MacADNski: Someone said that this is the point. The kid wants new sneakers so does this.
The first time I ever saw this was when I was about 4 or 5 yeas old on the way to school. I told my mom but she could never see those shoes I saw. Finally at about age 14, my mom told me she finally saw the shoes..

I later learned that unfortunately this is a sign that someone owns a drug territory/claim this region as theirs for drug activities. Be watchful as the image is much less innocent to me now that I know the true meaning. sad

It must have been a beautiful day!
Mary MacADNski: I had never heard of this. Very interesting!

lol! Bet someone was really cross! (:o)
Mary MacADNski: The mom, maybe. Glad you're back.
Best place for them perhaps if they are past their "smell by date" tongue
Mary MacADNski: A great place to get aired out.

*grin* I can just see this happening, and the desperate worry when they couldn't get their trainers down from the wires.
Mary MacADNski: If you've read the comments it is amazing all the theories that abound about these trainers. Fascinating.
