And I bet it's a weed, Mary! Is this some kind of thistle? It's so unusual and...gorgeous!
Mary MacADNski: No, Ginnie it's not a thistle. People call them perennial Bachelors Buttons and they are somewhat like a bachelor's button but not nearly as dense and it has only this one colour. They're in most perennial gardens here.

Gorgeous is definately the word for this Mary.
Mary MacADNski: They're delicate and very nice in the garden.
We have loads of these in our garden and I love them. This is a lovely picture! LOL at Ginnie A weed indeed!!
Mary MacADNski: They're popular here too but I don't know what they are called.

Love the colour not sure about its shape
Mary MacADNski: This one seems to be missing a few petals. it is similar but not as dense as a Bachelors Button.

Definitely a "come hither" message for the sex workers.
Mary MacADNski: The sex workers were very busy. Yesterday's flower was very popular. I took several photos and all but the one had insects on them.

Mary MacADNski: I'm not sure what they're called but they're very popular perennials here.

Dare I ask? What is the white powdery like stuff on the flower?

Weird flower though - it is what I would expect to see ina Star Trek movie. (Oh! did I just make a trekkie reference)
Mary MacADNski: The white powder is pollen. It may be pollen from other flowers that has arrived from the wind.

A Star Trek flower - interesting and quite possible.

I'd like one of these in my garden, I'll have to look out for them in the gardening centres.

A beautiful, crisp and vivid photograph. What better compliment can I give than now wanting to buy one of these...
Mary MacADNski: That is a compliment indeed. They're nice and bright. Even on this dreary day they jump out when I look across the yard to the garden.
Wonderful capture Mary. This flower is gorgeous and delicate!
Mary MacADNski: Gorgeous and delicate but as hardy as a dandelion.
Beautiful
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Martin. Nature is a wonder.

From someone who has no interest in gardening, this one does give me special pleasure. I like the group of the larger petals and how they are held togther by the reddish/purple ball in the middle.
Mary MacADNski: Now that is a compliment!!! We may have to try to turn you around here on SC.

Mary MacADNski: Gracias, Jose-Angel. El verano está finalmente aquí.
