After I read Ray's "green on green" comment, Mary, was when I saw the cow in the background! He found greener pastures? or is he staying away from the mama right now!?!
Mary MacADNski: There were about a hundred cows in this huge pasture.
Good shot country girl ...;-)
I've got a shot of a small hill farm in Staffordshire that I'll be posting before the years out... marginalll different from this idyllic scene Mary. richard
This image makes me so bloody happy to think that there are still places that cows and their babies can roam pastures and eat grass and other pasturey things.
That the milk and the cheese (and after a long life the meat)that comes from these cows are relatively pure and not shot through with antibiotics and hormones and laced with all the misery and nastiness that comes from CAFO's and other disgusting agricultural practices that seem to be prevalent these days.
Ok, off soap box. I know there are many farmers and dairy families devoted to reversing the trends and I certainly will pay extra for my cheese and cream and butter for such stewardship.
Did I say I love this image?
Mary MacADNski: This shot is from the pasture surrounding my friend's house. I'm not sure that these are or aren't shot up with antibiotics but I have cows and babies in MY back yard that are definitely not shot up. I appreciate that more than you know. They get treated in the fall to all the windfall organic apples I throw over the fence. They're sold directly from my neighbour, hormone and antibiotic free.
People seem to like these pastoral views. I may continue the series a bit longer. Thanks for dropping by.
Pull the udder one! I love the panda eyes on mum.. looks like me most mornings!
Mary MacADNski: LOL. I'm glad I don't work early morning. Check out "the eyes" on this one. Excuse the graininess. It was nearly dark outside. I like the photo a lot otherwise just because of the position of the cows heads.
This is a great image, love that these animals have the room to walk and be happy.
Mary MacADNski: These cows have one of the most beautiful pastures you could imagine. In the spring before they are put on this pasture from the wintering barns, my friend and I walk it. They have beautiful views from the highest points around.
The green on green on green landscape really grabs my attention, though.
