I used to love to read the children's book Miss Rumphious (aka the lupine lady)by Barbara Cooney to my daughter when she was small. I think our hot and humid summers make growing lupines a difficult thing to do here in DC :-(.
Mary MacADNski: We had that book too. I may dig it out and give it to my grandchildren when they're here next month.
I had to look up 'lupin' and I guess they will be the plants with the purple flowers. Aparently another name is wolf's bean. Are they cultivated or just wild growth? Nice rural picture.
Mary MacADNski: I have some lupin shots queued up with a link to the wiki article. It's a short season that they're here but they ars very pretty on the roadsides. They are wild.
Love lupins. I have this lovely childhood memory of standing amidst lupins and they being as tall as me and it being a sunny sunshiny day. Your lupin images have brought it back to me.
Mary MacADNski: Oh. what a lovely memory that is - to be surrounded bu colour. I'm happy I had a part to play in bringing it back.
