More of a "squawking" than a "murmuring", I guess, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I actually didn't notice the sounds they were making.

very crowded island, lol
Mary MacADNski: They were coming and going - constant activity.
The common cormorant (or shag)
Lays eggs inside a paper bag,
You follow the idea, no doubt?
It's to keep the lightning out.

But what these unobservant birds
Have never thought of, is that herds
Of wandering bears might come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs.

Mary MacADNski: I'd never heard this poem but Padraig says his mom recited it to him.

That's amazing! I love these birds, but have never seen so many congregating in one area before.

A cracking image, Mary, love it
Mary MacADNski: I'm going tomorrow to a different spot for some cormorant shots. If they turn out, I'll post one.

lol @ Bill

my mum used to tell me that poem
Mary MacADNski: I'd never heard it before.
I love the division in the water colour where the bottom drops. Lovely shot.
Mary MacADNski: The tide was coming in and we'd had rain for days. Thanks, Michael.

I wonder if they stand there looking at us looking at them? Interesting change in the colour of the water beyond their haven.
Mary MacADNski: They do watch or some do, acting as lookouts perhaps.
They are playing 'How many cormorants can you get on a rock?'
Lovely shot. smile
Mary MacADNski: They have made this a favorite spot.
