This is a tiny portion of my pond. I went down to see if it was frozen enough for skating. Sadly, it was not.

How do you test to see if it is frozen enough...take a friend who is a bit heavier than you, send him out on the ice and watch if he falls through?

So you own a pond. Excellent picture. It remains difficult for me to imagine living in a snowed under area.
Mary MacADNski: I have a fabulous property, Louis with a great pond. It is where I fell last year, dislocating my shoulder and breaking my arm. I'll link a winter shot of it iced. It usually doesn't freeze over any more but did last year.
