All that foresight definitely pays off come winter-time. Mary. This brings back nostalgic memories of the family cottage in Michigan over the Christmas holiday!
Mary MacADNski: This is my sister's back yard and her house was nice and warm due to piles like this.

Small, shivering, wood-pile.
Lov it!

[eerrr...did Mary get a new camera for Christmas?]
Mary MacADNski: Yes, Ray, I did get a new camera for Christmas. I have great kids.
Well spotted Mary!
Mary MacADNski: This is in my sister's back yard. Her house was nice and warm thanks to piles like this.

This reminds me of the arctic blast that came Oregon's way shortly before Christmas. Very nice shot.
Mary MacADNski: This is not bad for a long shot through my sister's very clean window. Thanks, Kay.

It would take a while to warm the wood before it would burn.I like the colour and shadows
Mary MacADNski: Luckily wood burns in the cold. Good thing too or it wouldn't have much use as a fuel.

Does that snow insulate the timber and keep it warm. lol
Mary MacADNski: Everything needs a blanket on days like that.
Molto bella.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Stefania.
Nice picture Mary.

We have actually had some proper snow today!
Mary MacADNski: Have you been out playing?

nice colours for a wood-pile ... forgotten in the middle of nowhere.
Mary MacADNski: This was in my sister's back yard.
lovely. looks like a sandwich
Mary MacADNski: You wouldn't need a toothpick after this sandwich.
Well spotted and captured with the shadow Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Richard.
Been heating with wood over 30 years...this looks like about a days' worth of warmth, these days...17 below this morning...just too darn cold! But the sun will fill the garden room in about 10 minutes, and that will warm things up. Nice, tight composition, btw.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Alan. My huge house was heated only by wood for a hundred and thirty years. I put oil-based hot water heating in fifteen years ago and it changed my life for the better. I still have a wood stove for emergencies.

They come in handy when you run out of fuel Mary. My husband is at the very minute burning wood in his shedsmile
Mary MacADNski: It's a very common fuel here in the Maritime Provinces.
Lovely crisp capture, Mary! That wood looks amazingly dry under all the snow. Some lovely patterns on the ends of the logs, too. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Rosalyn. I was surprised it was good as the pile was far away and through a window. I'm going to show the whole of my sister's back yard where this pile is only a small part.
