Mr. Fox came visiting again the other day. It was nice for my aunt who lives in a city and doesn't see wildlife up close and personal like this. I went outside just as he was walking onto the deck. One of the cats was outdoors and Mr. Fox would have fancied a meal.

He's a beauty. There are more foxes in the cities here than in the countryside!
Mary MacADNski: I saw one in the city three weeks ago. i was early going to the airport and pulled into a parking lot to watch the sunset and lo and behold a fox walked by.
He's a particularly handsome specimen. I love seeing unexpected wildlife in the garden like this. We had one come into our garden the other day but he was a very scraggy looking creature compared to this one! Surely we wouldn't have attacked your cat?

I have photos in an album of one chasing my cat, Kenz, who was completely oblivious to the fact. I saw him in that crouched, ready to spring mode and knew Kenz was outside so went running and sure enough that's what he was after. The cat came running when I called so was saved for a terrible fate. I got several photos.
Some cats over here fancy a bite of fox (or jackal as we rfere to them - little larger and different colours, but just as cheeky). Cats like leopards fancies foxes.
It has been recorded here that some Siamese cats successfully ganged up on jackal and even hyenas.
oh your so lucky Mary to have seen this so close up and personal and you have captured it perfectly
Mary MacADNski: They come on my deck, Tim and look in the windows. I don't feed them but I know lots of people who do. We also have coyotes around who will eat cats, dogs, calves, sheep, goats and the like. They are our largest wild animal.
I give much value him to this photo so that I intuit that it must be difficult that an animal as this it has allowed you to take a so good photo. For my a Likey!
I know it's not always easy to be certain from a photograph but this critter looks to be in the peak of fitness. We get lots of urban foxes in Leicester ... but at least we don't get Brown bears raiding the dustbins ... Ha!

Mary MacADNski: I'd say the foxes and coyotes are very healthy here. One downfall is that there are hardly any rabbits left and it's hardly safe to let your cats out. I have photos of a fox chasing one of mine. People feed the foxes too. I don't as it would have them here more than they already are. They are bold and come onto my deck all the time: http://justpictureit.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Daring_/
Foxes and coyotes are are largest wild animals so we don't have to worry about bears either though on the mainland my father does.
Wow...that's so cool. Unortunately I've spotted a number of dead foxes on the motorway near us I drive on to get into Dublin...poor fellas.
Mary MacADNski: I've actually killed two myself while night driving. My son killed one too at the same spot as one of mine occurred. They just appear and run right to you. As you say, poor fellas.
