photoblog image Rafted Ice

Rafted Ice

This is ice at the edge of the sea looking across 15 miles to Nova Scotia.  I got only one shot looking in this direction and a couple toward the lighthouse and some snowdrifts.  I will get back.  I've stood on the sea a few times this winter.

Sometimes we peer at the mainland on An Island Walk.

Beautifully done, Mary. What a view!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Kay. Some good equipment could do a super job here.

Snap-frozen waves...love it!
Mary MacADNski: Strangely, there would be no snap frozen fish. They are all happily enjoying the season where no one is after them.

Great shot Mary, but seriously cold sad
Mary MacADNski: Yes, it was really cold that day.
What a thought standing on the sea!
Mary MacADNski: My aunt and I were standing on the sea at my local beach and there were snowmobiles going all the way across. I suggested we could walk all the way across but she wasn't up for it. Chicken!

This shows the difference between your snow and our snow! What an amazing sight.

Mary MacADNski: This is ice and it would be pretty well frozen right across though they could be open areas.
Wow, very impressive Mary. Great capture!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Richard. Some good equipment could make some really good shots.
Standing on the sea!..thats a good one for starters. An excellent picture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It is strange-feeling. You have to have proper footwear or risk falling.

I wish I were there. Lovely, wonderful Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I'm going tomorrow, I've decided. Back to the same spot with more time.
As impressive as beautiful ! Bravo ! No very usual for me smile
Mary MacADNski: There were ferries that ran through the ice until we got the bridge in '97.
