I saw the big percheron horse and his donkey friend again on Saturday. They came over for petting but quickly returned to their hay. They seem very contented.
Animals and friends are often seen while out walking on An Island Walk.

very nice capture, I dread to think what might happen if you were to pull that ring? exploding horse after 5 seconds?
deflated rubber horse?
key holder horse?
pull ring lift tail and aim spray at base of fire?
Sorry...its the mood I'm in today!
Mary MacADNski: I'm so glad you brought it up. I have an idea of what it is really for but do not know for sure. Is it for keeping the harness straight? I'm in an excellent mood today too. Glad for us!
Its funny how that donkeys and horses go together and enjoy each otehr's company. I like the highlighting on the donkey's ears.
Mary MacADNski: Every photo I took that day has the highlighted ears. It's amazing. I just checked this shot from January, same place but a different day and yes, again the highlights. http://justpictureit.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Over_Exposed_Ass_/
It is the donkey's ears that do it.
I saw that ring and thought I should warn against pulling it - the horse may flush. Then I saw Philine remarked on the ring (never seen such funny comments from her before), so I will leave it be.
Mary MacADNski: Philine has never left a comment on this blog so you must tell me about the ring. I don't know where to go to hear it from her. Don't leave it be. I want to know.
The most likely use of the ring - see that it is plaited into the tail, will be to tie the horse's tail into a knot to prepare for dressage or showing. The tails are normally shortish and for shows tied into an old maid's knot.
