Ohhh, my little chickadee! My ex-husband used that often as a term of endearment, Mary. I love this wee bird, especially in that cozy, warm setting.

I am not sure about scale, Mary.
How big are these chickadees? If it is as big as a house fowl then its claws are fearsome weapons, of the kind that would tear the heart out of a walker's chest.

Do many folks get killed by these feathered terrors?

Mary MacADNski: Chickadees are tiny little birds and the gentlest creatures alive. I can coax them into my hand with some seed.

They are a bit like our long tailed tit but with a short tail! Delightful little bird

I didn't realise a chickadee was a real bird. He is gorgeous, nice shot Mary.
Mary MacADNski: They are very friendly and you can coax one into your hand but not as easily as you can the Australian birds.

So that's what they look like! I always thought it was just an expression and that they did not actually exist. Now I know better.
