This is a porcelain painting done by my aunt.  This is the aunt I took three weeks (in two sessions) of painting lessons with this year.  This is an old piece of work but I love it.

Mary MacADNski: It is not me but my first grade photo is like this - same haircut and look in my eyes.

Porcelain painting? Does that mean she paints on clay, glaze and bake - or is it paint on porcelain, no further processing?

I think this painting is from one of Genevieve's earlier periods. (Art professor smile)
Mary MacADNski: She mixes pure powdered pigments mixed with oil and yes, it is then fired in her kiln. This is from many years ago. She doesn't paint much anymore but I have her back into it. She gave me lessons twice this year and that urged her back into it.

Your aunt really has talent. The portrait is very sweet. Love the expression!
Mary MacADNski: I think the expression is what I like about this too.
There is something very 1950's about this, the colouring reminds me of children's books of my childhood. It is beautifully done
