I am glad that you do look up, down and all around and show what you see.
I love this one very much, the silhouette id just wonderful.
Mary MacADNski: Grackles are noisy but very pretty. I had two birds but the grackle is more interesting with it's unusual fan-shaped tail. Hope you are having a great vacation!
Mary MacADNski: It is a grackle. They are the size of a blue jay (or a bit smaller and thinner than a lorikeet) and have the characteristic fan-shaped tail.
I googled grackles and they don't sound like very nice birds...not as bad as seagulls though
Mary MacADNski: The southern type seems more bothersome. They look the same but are a bit bigger. You see them in the Caribbean and Mixico etc. To us they are like any other of the small blackbirds.
I like the near-silhouette of this; just little clues of colour. Hopefully, the bird is out of your girls' reach.
Mary MacADNski: They are out of their reach but the cats never bother a bird. I trained them from birth and the birds sit shoulder to shoulder with them many times. It's wonderful!
Nice image. Rather like a watercolour or woodcut subject. cheers
Mary MacADNski: I thought woodcut also when I looked at these. I'm so glad to hear you say that. Maybe this winter when I'm not so busy I will do a woodcut or lino cut of it.
