I am glad that you do look up, down and all around and show what you see.
I love this one very much, the silhouette id just wonderful.
Mary MacADNski: Grackles are noisy but very pretty. I had two birds but the grackle is more interesting with it's unusual fan-shaped tail. Hope you are having a great vacation!

Grickle...grackle...and, kavoom, too!
Mary MacADNski: And the same to you.
Well spotted Mary...Its a stranger to me of course.
Mary MacADNski: A grackle is a member of the black bird family. They are long and have a fan shaped tail.

Nice silhouette Mary, looks like a crow to me
Mary MacADNski: It is a grackle. They are the size of a blue jay (or a bit smaller and thinner than a lorikeet) and have the characteristic fan-shaped tail.
Great backlight capture with these silhouettes Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thank you, Richard. I got two different birds but the grackle is more interesting with the fan-shaped tail.
I googled grackles and they don't sound like very nice birds...not as bad as seagulls though grin
Mary MacADNski: The southern type seems more bothersome. They look the same but are a bit bigger. You see them in the Caribbean and Mixico etc. To us they are like any other of the small blackbirds.

This feels so Alfred Hitchcock-ish, Mary. smile
Mary MacADNski: Oh no! In reality there were only two birds. I'm showing you only one.

I thought Blackbird from the silhouette, but having read your replies to the other comments I am wiser now ;o)
Mary MacADNski: They are technically blackbirds - same family - only with a long fan tail.

Nice shot Mary: virtually in b&w
Mary MacADNski: True, Chris. There's just a hint of pink in some of the blossoms.
I like the near-silhouette of this; just little clues of colour. Hopefully, the bird is out of your girls' reach.
Mary MacADNski: They are out of their reach but the cats never bother a bird. I trained them from birth and the birds sit shoulder to shoulder with them many times. It's wonderful!
Nice image. Rather like a watercolour or woodcut subject. cheers
Mary MacADNski: I thought woodcut also when I looked at these. I'm so glad to hear you say that. Maybe this winter when I'm not so busy I will do a woodcut or lino cut of it.
