A very fine Village, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I could hear the babies cheeping inside.

Natural aeration of the soil smile
Mary MacADNski: Homes with nice sea breezes.
This is a lovely picture. Love the colours.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Shiela. It has been very dry and that cliff certainly looks that way. I would say it is a different colour now since we have had an abundant rain in the last few days.
A beautiful mini cave dweller Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Their main diet is mosquitoes. Great to have around.

Here they use the mud from the river bank to make very elaborate cave like structures up on walls. Looks like these ones have found an easier way
Mary MacADNski: We have those too. Those are called barn swallows. They have been in serious decline and no one knows why. I have several empty nests in my shed. Very sad. They are voracious mosquito eaters. These are cousins.
Interestingt o see that they are all around the same sort of level. Can't help with the indentification of the builders, I'm afraid!
Mary MacADNski: Some like more privacy and find sites where there are no others. Or maybe they've been banished...
What we call a Sand Martin I think Mary.
Mary MacADNski: All swallows are members of the martin family. We've grown up with both terms, cliff swallows and bank swallows.
It would be interesting to plant your tripod with the camera and wait patiently to see what comes out of these animal burrows! wink
Mary MacADNski: The birds were going in and out while I was there but alas no tripod.
They must be strong little characters to dig these holes with their beaks Mary.
Mary MacADNski: These are sandy cliffs - soft sandstone.
