Tracadie

There is a lovely dune island a short swim from the beach I was on recently.  If you have a boat it is much easier to get there.

Very inviting appearance, Mary, but I suppose the vegetation is quite fragile.
Mary MacADNski: Marram grass is fragile but people walk around it as it has a spiked growing tip.

Any large bitey things in the water to make the trip hazardous....hard to resist exploring though
Mary MacADNski: No, nothing poisonous or bitey. We have jellyfish but a type that gives a mild sting. I watched two guys swim across and rest for five minutes then swim back.

It's the best sort of beach - deserted
Mary MacADNski: They get to look across at us. There are tons and tons of deserted beaches on the island. The one I go to which is in walking distance from my house, never has anyone there but me.
At times then Mary...a dune all to yourself. Nice one.
Mary MacADNski: There were a few people there for the afternoon - a dune to themselves.
I remember going on a botanical field trip at school to study sand dunes.
Mary MacADNski: The whole north side of the island is dunes with many of these sand islands dotting the shallows.
I think I would take the boat; I do do sea swimming at all. The water is too cold for my liking in this country. Looks like a lovely place to relax and enjoy, though.
Mary MacADNski: The water on the north side is cold and where I live on the south side very warm - a world of difference.
This is a bit like the landscape of the beaches on our North Norfolk coast Mary, there is a lot of Marram grass there.
Mary MacADNski: I don't get to the north shore very often. Most of mt beach shots are from the south shore, where I live. I love looking out at and lying amongst the dunes though. It reminds me of my early years on PEI.
Amazing colortones, did you process the picture ?
Mary MacADNski: No processing from me, Zebigleb. Sometimes I straighten horizons.
