photoblog image Bug Eyed

Bug Eyed

My friend, who is really brave, picked up this bug for me to photograph.  I got several shots and will show one tomorrow of how large he is on my friend's hand.  I wanted to show his close up first. I think it is some type of a wood beetle.

A wonderful shot - the pincers are a little scary.
Mary MacADNski: My friend held it for ages and it didn't bite or anything.
Looks like it is made of wood Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I think it eats lots of it and as they say, "You are what you eat".
The camera certainly sees more than we can Mary. Well done.
Mary MacADNski: How true that is, Ron!

Goodness! He looks like some scary alien! No way could I bring myself to pick that up! Good photo, though; I'd run off rather then photograph it.
Mary MacADNski: My friend is always brave. I have photos of him holding a spider, a bat and now this.
Not the most attractive of creatures Mary.
Mary MacADNski: To his mate, s/he's a beauty.

OMG, Mary. It's prehistoric!
Mary MacADNski: I was amazed; also, he sat in my friend's hand for ages and didn't bat one of his hundreds of eyes.

Mary MacADNski: I remember these bugs from my forested childhood and knew they didn't hurt humans only trees.
