photoblog image Oil and Water Do Not Mix

Oil and Water Do Not Mix

Sadly, this was a stream leading to the sea that I saw the other day.   When I was a child, I thought the rainbow effect of oil in the water was beautiful.  I now know that I am witnessing the pollution of our waters.  I wish more people cared about our oceans.

Its a great picture, Mary, even though the subject is unpleasant.
Mary MacADNski: Funny how terrible things can be so pretty. Think of a mushroom cloud.

Ray has said it all for me; Lovely colours but a sad reflection of our society.
Mary MacADNski: It's very true, Alan.

Hi Mary
Lovely oily number! I posted one similar a while back too - http://urban8photo.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Mail_Box_Oil/ John
Mary MacADNski: I'm glad you stopped by and left the link. It is a sad commentary on our world isn't it?

Mary MacADNski: Horribly pretty we could say.

People have no respect for the environment...very sad
Mary MacADNski: You are certainly right. Very sad.
It's the same with most glorious sunsets...it's just pollution really.
Mary MacADNski: "When will we ever learn"?

I know what you mean Mary
Mary MacADNski: Sad, Sad, sad.
You have caught what we all dread seeing...OIL..and not the reflections of a tree.
Mary MacADNski: It is indeed dreaded, especially on it's way to the sea.
Although the proposed topic, as you say, it is very sad, you got a picture of much aesthetic beauty. It could serve well in a contest about environmental complaint!
Mary MacADNski: Hey, you're back. You must have had a long vacation.
It is a beautiful photograph, sadly so many people could careless about the natural world we live in.
Mary MacADNski: It's sad, but we've all seen even worse.
I couldn't agree more with your feelings Mary, it does make quite a striking picture though.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Brian.

Yes, I always remember loving seeing the oily slicks on the pavement as a child. Makes a good image though.

Mary MacADNski: It really did make me think of puddles from childhood. Glad it did for you too.
Out of Sight Out of Mind. Thats our waterways, throw it in and its gone. Nice Capture all the same Mary
Mary MacADNski: I want to go back to this spot and see if this is a usual thing. I'ts on the other end of the Island and I don't get there often.
