photoblog image Big Carrot

Big Carrot

This is a carrot from my garden.  I had been trying for days to pull this carrot with no results.  Finally I used a spade and got it out, realizing then why it was difficult.  The appendage shown on the bottom of the photo was sliced through diagonally from the shovel and was even longer than the central root.  We grow 'em big on PEI.

Don't know why, but I find this thing to be somewhat erotic...thank you, Mary.

[Looks like you might have been a little too entusiastic with your application of fowl manure to the garden bed]
Mary MacADNski: You have a great imagination....I think. Manure is indeed fowl but this was strictly compost.

O my, erotic no...tasty yes
Mary MacADNski: I don't see anything erotic either. It was delicious.
Quite astonishing Mary! It looks very tasty.
Mary MacADNski: It went into a wonderful beef stew. Fresh carrots are so delicious.
This reminds me of my jelly fish sting in June. The marks on my arm still flair up from time to time.

Wonderful carrot Mary.
Mary MacADNski: It was delicious. You must have had quite a sting to have it still flaring up.
I agree with ray ,looks like a porno carrot!
Mary MacADNski: You guys have a better imagination than I do.

Interesting shape how did it taste?
Mary MacADNski: It was rich and carroty in a beef stew.
Look a bit like a deformed hand, Mary (note that I've refrained from any innuendo!). Did you end up cooking up it?
Mary MacADNski: Thank you for your restraint. LOL I used it in a beef stew. My daughter was home last weekend and it is her favorite food.
I hope this tasted as good as it looks Mary, no wonder it wouldn't just pull up easily.
Mary MacADNski: It was delicious in a beef stew. My daughter was home and it's her favorite food. All the carrots around it came easily. i thought maybe it was 10 feet long.
I have never seen such an intresting carrot, Shame to cook it and eat it!
Mary MacADNski: I had one grow up with an old shoe buckle embedded weirdly.

Well not quite ... guillotine would be more apt but who cares.

Now we know why teeth are difficult to pull..Ouch!
Mary MacADNski: Exactly, Ron. That's exactly the first thing I thought of. Formerly being in the dental profession, I remember teeth like that.
