Fox With Ducks

I posted three or four fox photos last winter that were taken in my yard.  I took many, many more than that.  Here is another.  The ducks got out of the water when I came out, not when the fox walked by.

That is way too funny, Mary...the ducks leaving for you but not for the fox! This one is bigger than what I normally see in images, but still a beauty.
Mary MacADNski: They fly away if the fox gets too close. Even when I put something in the trash or let the cats out, the ducks get on the ice. Why, I don't know.

Love the scene even without the fox in it.
I must get to Canada sometime in the near future.
Mary MacADNski: That is the pond I have skated on for 25 years. It was starting to open up in this shot. I hope you make it to the east coast. Everyone always seems to go to the west coast.

A fine animal.

Is it native to PEI, Mary, or an introduced species [like they are in Australia]?
Mary MacADNski: I believe they are native. PEI once had a thriving fox fur industry. In the late '80's, the price dropped to nothing and the fox farmers opened the cages, letting out the foxes they could no longer afford to feed. Our population since has been very high but coyotes are bringing it down.

What a cute fox. I had one live in my old neighborhood in San Diego. This one looks well fed. Perhaps those ducks know the reason why.
Mary MacADNski: The pair that hung out here last winter looked very healthy. The ducks simply fly away when foxes bother them.

Smart ducks, that fox isn't going to go in the water after them
Mary MacADNski: The ducks left the water when I came out. The fox didn't bother them a bit. They have wings.
As a picture, very nice, and I like the view of the fox and the ducks.
I simply don't like foxes and can't find anything good to say about them.
Mary MacADNski: They like cats and I have a picture of one chasing Kenz. I really don't like them hanging around my house.

I on the other hand love to see foxes, even though they can wreak havoc in the farmyard - they are only following their nature. This is a fine specimen and he confronts the camera with confidence! Lovely picture, Mary.

Mary MacADNski: I love seeing them as long as I know the cats are inside. The pair that hung around all last winter were in very good shape and beautiful. My neighbour found one dead in the field between is in the spring though. We don't know why it died.

Sly Mr fox is just wating for his dinner Mary.
Mary MacADNski: He was hoping for some kitties.
Lovely fox, cute ducks, Fantastic snow!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Linda.
Great photo Mary, lovely colors and what a show smile
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Rafael. I watched this fox and it's mate all winter. They were beauties and I got tons of shots.
Very nice Mary..He doesn't seem bothered...and you've got all that white stuff to return soon.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks Ron. The fox is very happy to hang around apparently as he and his mate spent a lot of the winter around here.Don't mention the white stuff yet.
A fine animal Mary, and the ducks are no doubt happy to kepp the water between him and them.
Mary MacADNski: They have a good defense system called wings.
I fine shot anyway Mary; the fox is almost a bonus. Is life harder for them during the winter? I hope your blades are sharp ready this year's freeze.
Mary MacADNski: This winter will be my first year on the ice since dislocating my shoulder and breaking my arm. I'm a little nervous around ice now. The accident did happen after I took off the skates and put on my boots.
I've seen your comment on Ellie's posting; yes today we commemorate the day in the UK and across Europe; Australia and New Zealand, too.
Mary MacADNski: The US commemorates on the same day too. I think its good to be on the same day.
As it is here Mary. Particularly poignant as the last three men who fought in the First World War died this year.
Mary MacADNski: We may have lost our last one too, if I remember correctly.
Preciosa. Muy bien capturada.
Mary MacADNski: Muchas gracias.
