First Frost

From September - an early major frost.

Even when it's nippy,  An Island Walk, keeps on walking.

That's it - winter's here!

A lovely composition here though Mary
Mary MacADNski: We've been having the most wonderful weather this Nov. so winter weather is not here yet. I'm not complaining by any means.

This cone-flower looks crisp enough to crack in pieces like a sheet of glass.

Nice image, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I showed a sunflower stem way back from this day. All the flowers are gone and overwintering birds will eventually feast on these seeds.

Mary MacADNski: You are a bad boy!
It looks frozen indded Mary! I like the colours contrast here!
Mary MacADNski: Frosts like this are commonplace now - two months later.

Frost is a plant killer
Mary MacADNski: Especially as early as this one was. I still had tomatoes and other things in the garden back then so I had to cover them.
We have had a touch of frost a couple of weeks ago..but nothing serious yet. This is such a pretty flower Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Long gone now as this was an early frost in September. Most unusual.
Very pretty, I love the frost on it.
Mary MacADNski: It was a real surprise to have such an early frost.
Nice capture Mary. Looks beautiful but you feel sympathetic at the same time.
Mary MacADNski: I always feel sad that winter is coming.

I like the ice crystals, Mary. I assume that the coming of the frost is the end for such flowers. We still have temperatures of around 15 deg C - far too high for this time of year.
Mary MacADNski: We are having the most beautiful November in my memory but we had 15 only once. It's 8 - 10 most days and that is ideal for walking.
I like the flower...very well, Mary!
Mary MacADNski: You've probably never seen your flowers like this, Kavita.
The forms of nature seem endless.
Mary MacADNski: Aren't we lucky that we observe it with our eyes and camera?

A very lovely composition. Have a good day. Antoine.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks you for your comment, Antoine.
This must be the first winter picture of the season Mary, it certainly highlights this lovely flower.
Mary MacADNski: I had the frosty sunflower from the same day back in September.
Nice flower! I like the colours!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Reflecteur. The flower is gone now.
Even with the frost on it, Mary, the colors are vibrant. Very nice shot.
Mary MacADNski: This was the first frost so everything was fresh and healthy.

Oh dear, that's a sad sight isn't it.
Mary MacADNski: The first frost always says, "No turning back now."
