I like this one even better than yesterday's. I love the rows punctuated at different intervals by the bales, each one wearing a hat of snow. an excellent photo!

Mary MacADNski: It is straw left from the harvest of some grain or another. It is usually stored in one small area of the field but this was never gathered. If it was hay it would be more important.

Mary MacADNski: They are in snow here but usually not left scattered. They are usually stored in one small area. This straw is wrapped in a clear wrap so it is protected.
This could be Michigan, Mary! But don't you remember growing up when bales of hay were retangular! I wonder what year they switched to round. I recall that it dries out faster like this?
Mary MacADNski: I have lifted many square bales, Ginnie, and not that long ago. Some farmers still use square bales as that is what fits in the hay lofts of old barns.
