This shot was taken early Sunday morning before it was bright. I showed this river and its congregated geese a couple of years ago during a mild winter. This year again, many geese have decided to overwinter on the Island rather than take the long trip south. Just like people who travel here in the winter find, not all the restaurants are open in winter.

Mary MacADNski: The nearer birds are ducks called Common Goldeneyes. They are common here in winter. I sometimes get a few in the winter who spend an afternoon and eat my trout.
Just like people who travel here in the winter find, not all the restaurants are open in winter. But those that are open, serve Goose PEI.
The blue tint - is that you, or is it a low light shot? Looks great.
Mary MacADNski: This is early morning before the sun has completely risen. It is the morning 'blue hour'. We have another at dusk. i think it is the prettiest times of the day, especially in winter when the snow sucks up that blue so beautifully.
Nice evocative picture Mary - let's hope they found some food!
Mary MacADNski: Geese are mostly vegetarians and eat grass and grain leftover in fields. Most fields are somewhat snow-covered and windswept. The first part of winter was ok but it is snowy and colder now.
Are the new generations of geese becoming softies, like the new generations of kids, I wonder????
Mary MacADNski: I would say they are becoming tougher if they dare to stay here for the winter. It would be nice and warm further south and they're choosing to stay in the freezing cold.
It looks so cold for them Mary, they must be quite hardy.Lovely early morning shot.
Mary MacADNski: They are hardy but since they normally fly south, I would think they are very cold. The only bonus of working the night shift is the opportunity to be out in the early morning.
I guess you could take it that way, Mary. I meant in not taking the time and energy to fly south to where they are "expected" to be! As in being Stupid!
Mary MacADNski: Ah, get you now! They may not be so 'stupid' next year.
Is that a flotilla of little'uns closest to you?
