I posted a shot of someone's buoys yesterday and some people were unfamiliar with them. This is a set from Bev, a local fisherman whose buoys I showed two years ago. Buoys mark lobster traps and have to be brightly coloured so that fishermen like Bev can see them in all kinds of weather. Fishermen set their traps on the first day of May and many will be eating a fresh catch on the second.
We will walk and walk and walk to find lobster on An Island Walk.
Bev and His Buoys

I remember the other shot But it had no proud owner.
Mary MacADNski: I had another the next day I think of his helper and a friend. I always liked that one because I told them I was about to make them famous (just like I said to Bev) and they had a big laugh (just like Bev).
Living in a small fishing town, we see lots of these buoys. They always make great photos because of their colours and because they are usually in a mass. Here they often use bright strong beach-type balls, each encased in a net. If you want to see, I'm sure there are pictures in my SC archive in the Fishing Folder.
Mary MacADNski: We do have the round ones too but the lobster fishermen don't use them. Could be the cost.
