Now this reminds me of seeing all of the Vancouver ships go into port on my way home from work each day... Lovely! I like seeing the tourists that come off these ships...

Do the traffic and shops change a lot?

Most of the time I was unable to take shots of our ships as the glare in the glass got in the way.
Mary MacADNski: Downtown stores definitely gets a bit crowded I'm told. There are busses that take them to the North Shore's National Park and Ann of Green Gables and places like that so I would imagine those places would be more crowded than usual.
Today we receive our first cruise ship in Saguenay and he's from Italy too. I don't see it but perhabs he's the same.

He start for Charlottetown's at 17h00.

Amazing!

Superb shot!
Mary MacADNski: I would guess it is the same one. You would get regular traffic there too with such a beautiful area to tour.

Impressive structures in an ugly sort of a way, aren't they...a little like a modern high-rise Office building laying on its side in the water.
Mary MacADNski: Most have a staff of 700 to 900 people. That amazed me.

Now that is a huge ship! Wow! Nicely caught.
Mary MacADNski: There are larger ones that come in too. Amazing isn't it?

A fine shot Mary. If this is to be a boom year does this signify the end of world recession I wonder?
Mary MacADNski: I don't know the answer to that. It probably means the sales people that work for the city have finally convinced a few more tour buyers to visit this paradise by pleading their Anne of Green Gables card.
that is ONE BIG SHIP!
Mary MacADNski: It is and it is not the biggest we get.
Wonderful capture Mary. I really like the modern design of this ship!
Mary MacADNski: Yes, it is a clean modern design.

When you see the sizes of the buses you then get the idea that is one very large ship.good capture
Mary MacADNski: This had more than 3500 passengers and crew....very big. We had had bigger ones though.

The first think I noticed was the very upright funnel.. not like most cruiise ships. I live around 3 miles from our cruise terminal and it gets busier and busier each year. We've had tow naming ceremonies for two new ships this month alone! My brother and ghis wife are greater cruisers but its not for me.
Mary MacADNski: I think you're more like me and would rather go to a place and be allowed to explore more than a few hours.
This is one big cruise ship,a cruise does not appeal to me, but I know its very popular smile
Mary MacADNski: It would not appeal to me either but to each his own. I own a backpack.
That's some ship! Dublin has only recently started to get cruise ships, first of which arrived last week! Coincidence. They're expecting a boom year here too, with almost 100 ships scheduled for the season.
Mary MacADNski: I read last week how many we are scheduled to get but can't find it. This ship returns today and the way I read it the same people will be aboard.
wow, what a big ship! nice one
Mary MacADNski: These large ships are a common sight on our waterfront from spring till late autumn.
It looks like a floating layer cake. smile
Mary MacADNski: Someone just blew out the candle it seems.
Wow, Mary. It appears that Charlottetown has become a popular stop for cruise ships. That must be a boon for local businesses.

Is this Italian ship called the Costa Atlantica?
Mary MacADNski: Yes, this is the Atlantica. Charlottetown has been a stop for more and more ships every year.

My goodness, what an impressive beast of a ship!! Incredible! You have captured it really well Mary!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Marion. It is a beast!
These ships are amazing - like floating apartment blocks. Well shot, was it a case of being in the right place at the right time.
Mary MacADNski: On the commute to work I heard on the radio that it was docking. I could see it crossing the bridge over the harbour and easily found a parking lot that was unoccupied at that early in the morning. All the photos that appeared in the newspaper were from further up the street and taken from the bow of the vessel. If I'd driven to that plum position, I would have been late for work.
Wowi Zowi. That is quite something. Nice capture Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks. It is very big and held hoards of people.
Heavens, I wouldn't care to be one of the thousands on that ship! I suppose it's one way of seeing the world, but I prefer to do it my way smile
Mary MacADNski: I'm not a cruiser nor do I like all-inclusive vacations which seems to be the rage. Did that once and that was enough.
It would be my idea of Hell to bo on one of these things!
Mary MacADNski: I'm with you there. I'd rather be here, in Heaven.
They are beautiful ships..but they sure look top heavy. Excellent local income then Mary..That's always welcome
Mary MacADNski: Yes, lots of businesses benefit from these big ships.
Nice ship and capture
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, John.
Just a big floating hotel really, cruise ships start visiting here next month. Nice capture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, they are basically big hotels with super buffets.
