PEI is known for the wild lupins that bloom in the ditches in June. The best examples I have this year are not in ditches but in a friend's city garden. The warm winte seems to have resulted in a less outstanding bloom this year.

Large numbers of them also bloom wild along the Swedish motorways - can't get them to grow in my garden, however, I think the slugs love them too much!
Mary MacADNski: I have them on the hill of my driveway and they were fine but I noticed less than usual in some spots.
Either wild or growing in a garden, lupins are a delight for the eye, Mary.
The last time I was in P.E.I., I managed to get a shot of some old fashion hollyhocks which were growing against a red painted house in Charlottetown; an image very much like this charming one of yours.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Beverly. How long has it been since you've been home?
