You're probably quite shocked to see a black and white from me. I had some free time in a friend's garden last week and she had three poppies in bloom. I shot so many frames I thought I could afford to alter one. I must say I like the coloured ones better but this is interesting enough.

I don't think this works, Ms. MM. You picked the wrong subject to play with b&w, but I'm glad you try new things. It's about time, don't you think? Why don't you get yourself a decent software, like, say, Elements? No photographer should be without a darkroom, and that is exactly what the PP software is. The Elements is not expensive and it might allow you more freedom in what you try achieve. Remember, the camera lens is just a piece of glass, not a match for our eyes.
Mary MacADNski: I truly don't have the time to play with photos though I'd like to. If I can find some spare time hiding under a table or behind a curtain, I will devote some to my photos. I am painting any spare moment now and at the moment that is where my self direction is taking me.
Interesting high jinks Mary ... but it looks far too flat and lifeless for my taste. Maybe give it more intense tones and sharper ... but who knows

Mary MacADNski: I just converted it to B/W but didn't go as far enough as changing any levels. Maybe if I ever find a spare minute (lol) I will do that.
