Herons

On a drive through the National Park last week I saw a meeting of Great Blue Herons. They will soon be heading south.

On An Island Walk we happen to pass birds on every walk.

"so...uhh...when do you think you might head off, Bert?"

The collective noun for Herons is a sedge Mary - and this is a very fine one

Oh my god I often see one or maybe two herons together but this is a crowd well caught

Mary MacADNski: I am wondering if they travel in groups and this is one such group. The ones in my pond are gone.

I have never seen more than one heron at a time...this is a gang of 'em!

Mary MacADNski: I usually have three or so in the pond when I wake up - sometimes up to five.

We only get the odd one Mary, never seen this many together before, so thanks for sharing it.
