Herons

On a drive through the National Park last week I saw a meeting of Great Blue Herons. They will soon be heading south.

On An Island Walk we happen to pass birds on every walk.

"so...uhh...when do you think you might head off, Bert?"

"Dunno, yet, Henry...the missus says she still has a few items of packing to do..."
Mary MacADNski: I think you got it!

The collective noun for Herons is a sedge Mary - and this is a very fine one
Mary MacADNski: I did not know this fact, Chris. I just called it a heck of a bunch of herons.

Oh my god I often see one or maybe two herons together but this is a crowd well caught
Mary MacADNski: I am wondering if they travel in groups and this is one such group. The ones in my pond are gone.
I have never seen more than one heron at a time...this is a gang of 'em!
Mary MacADNski: I usually have three or so in the pond when I wake up - sometimes up to five.

Enjoy them while you can
Mary MacADNski: The herons on my pond are gone now but I see them around everywhere else.
They seem having a chat to plan their trip Mary!
Fine capture.
Mary MacADNski: LOL I think you are right - a going away dinner.

Your herons look like they're in heaven, Mary, having a grand R&R time. Not moving yet, by the looks of it (LOL at Ray).

I've never seen more than one at a time so this is a real treat, Mary. I hope they all have their bellies filled ready for the flight.

Lucky you, well spotted.
Mary MacADNski: It's not something you see every day.
I've never seen more than one of these at a time, how fortunate.
Mary MacADNski: I know. I have not seen this many either. There were about 15.

We only get the odd one Mary, never seen this many together before, so thanks for sharing it.
Mary MacADNski: I couldn't fit them all in and even know what you were looking at. There was around 15 or so.
