Shame this has happened it look like a great house in the passed.Well compose photo Mary
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, mate. I love these old buildings.
Wonderful composition Mary. A pity to see these houses abandonned!
Mary MacADNski: Everything decays and goes back to the ground.
Oh, I love this. Some abandoned buildings seem to have their own kind of charm.
Mary MacADNski: I love old buildings, Odd. I have a few old buildings that I've been tracking over the years. this one has been shown here before.

Definitely seen better days
Mary MacADNski: You wonder how many birds, raccoons and skunks and birds have made this a home.
I agree this has charm and is crying out to be photographed and you have done a wonderful job here Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I have a few old buildings that I've been tracking over the years. this one has been shown here before.
In the UK these buildings, in such beautiful settings, would soon be snapped up by property developers. Love the splashes of red in this, Mary. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: This is on an old country road in the middle of nowhere. If someone wanted to build a house here the owner of the land would be easy enough to track down.

Do people just walk out of these places & leave them to rot Mary?
Mary MacADNski: My guess is that they are carried out. I think they die and there is no one in the family interested in the old homestead. They hold onto the property till they need some cash. This is all speculation on my part.
Has that other one fallen down yet?
Mary MacADNski: Not that I know of. With the wind we've had this fall it has had it's chances. I will be about 10 km from there today so think I will go check it out. Thanks for the reminder.
Charming photo. There has to be a story behind this house.
Mary MacADNski: I don't know the story but there are lots of old abandoned buildings like this around here.
In need of a few improvements but what a setting.
Mary MacADNski: It's on a nice quiet country road.
I like the idea, would have cropped it a bit more myself,
Mary MacADNski: I had a few shots but liked this one. I don't post process, Chantal, as I've told you before.
He, he - nice one, Mary. I can just imagine the estate agent's ad: "Desirable country residence, in need of some restoration."
Mary MacADNski: Fixer upper at least.

Why so many abandoned buildings in PEI, Mary?
Mary MacADNski: I really don't know the answer to that, Ray. My guess is that people moved away. I'd say and the old farms that once held families, then just an old couple were abandoned. The children who had moved to the cities are now back here but they're homes and cottages are on the seaside, not on the farms.

So much charm in this shot!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Jennie. I love these old derelicts.
The original owners of this home certainly picked a beautiful setting in which to build, Mary. Sad to see it reduced to a ruin. I don't see a chimney here; wonder if it has fallen down already.
Mary MacADNski: It is a nice road, a valley road.
When I see pictures like this I often think it would be nice it old houses could talk, oh what stories they would have to tell.
Mary MacADNski: Some do. Weird things get found from time to time.
I wonder if the descendants have pictures of this old property..It still makes a charming picture Mary.
Mary MacADNski: I have no idea but it would be cool.

Always sad to see this sort of thing. I wonder why it has become derelict?
Mary MacADNski: This was my answer to Ray: My guess is that people moved away. I'd say and the old farms that once held families, then just an old couple were abandoned. The children who had moved to the cities are now back here but they're homes and cottages are on the seaside, not on the farms.

I don't know if this is the case, just a guess.
