I remember you once posted a picture with birds in teh snow (I think you snapped them through the window, if I remember correctly). That picture knocked me out. This one could be good one as well, if it was a natural tree branch in lieu of teh feeder. smile

Love it, Mary.

Especially the bamboo skewers improvising as a perch.
Mary MacADNski: You wouldn't believe how many bamboo skewers I go through. The ravens and raccoons take them out. Then they get buried or frozen into the snow. I recovered several dozen in the spring.

Mary MacADNski: This was last year but yesterday I put some feeders out and will do more tomorrow. The birds are great to watch.
So Autumn is over Mary?
Mary MacADNski: Not officially til 21 Dec but once we've had snow..... it will disappear later this week when we get rain.

They look a bit cold! They are talking about snow here later this week!!
Mary MacADNski: This was from last year and yes it was a cold stormy day when that was shot.

Mary MacADNski: We are getting rain on Wed. It is ever changing in November. Week before last it was 17 degrees.

Mary MacADNski: I do my best to keep them fed and others who live nearby do as well so we have a happy, healthy bunch of birds in the neighbourhood.

That is so funny...it popped into my head over the weekend to ask you when the snows start to fall, and how long they last for. Well I'm guessing now I know! I love the guy top right in mid air, you cant even see his wings.
Mary MacADNski: I like that guy in mid air too. By the way, the snow usually ends in April. It snows only occasionally in April but it has sometimes lasted till May . By them it doesn't last long if it falls. Much like November. It is going to rain on Wednesday.
Oh! The snow has arrived! I`m sure that it has its downside for you, Mary, but I always look forward to your images. (:o) This is a beauty.
Mary MacADNski: I commute so it is a downside but there is nothing nicer than putting on a pair of snowshoes in winter and going into the woods - or go out for a skate on the pond. It is hard commuting.
Oh dear, we have some snow on the way as well so the weathermen say.
Mary MacADNski: We just tough up and get through it eh?
They don't seem to be fazed by the snow at all, Mary. This has to be one of my favourite bird feeder pictures. It's so cute.

Great shot of the Goldfinch trough your window Mary...we have a lot of snow up here.. it came the day before my birthday and the lake stated to freeze over...petersad
Mary MacADNski: We are expecting rain on Wed and I'm glad as I have some 'before winter chores' not finished.
Great image love the one capture in mid flight, don't they get through the seed fast,I'm forever refilling my feeders .
Mary MacADNski: I just got home from work and mine need filling again. It was a beautiful day here and I wish I'd been home to watch the birds.

Mary MacADNski: Certain birds spend the winter and they are perfectly adapted. They are wonderful to watch.
Yikes, snow so soon, or is it 'normal' for you Mary?

The birds look to be in remarkably good condition. They're finches of some sort, but not quite the same as the European Greenfinch.
Mary MacADNski: It's a little early for snow but it will disappear with the rain on Wednesday. These are American Goldfinches in late winter last year. The males lose their colour in winter and look exactly like the females. In summer the males are bright yellow.
