photoblog image Weird Sky

Weird Sky

This red sky fascinated me because of the distinct white cloud in it.  How does that happen?

Weird but beautiful.

The way I see it is that the white is a 'hole' in the clouds. Either no cloud or it is on a higher level. In principle, nothing to reflect against and observed as a white patch.
Mary MacADNski: It is not a hole and is the layer closest to us. You can see on the left wisps of the white cloud over the dark colours. It is a real mystery.

Fabulous image: I guess it's thinner where it gets white Mary??
Mary MacADNski: No, the white is on top of it all making it thicker there.
Another simply wonderful sunset Mary. What a capture!
Mary MacADNski: It was a very different one.
that is some fiery color
Mary MacADNski: Fire and snow it seems.

God dripped the white paint - didn't He?

Nice colour!
Mary MacADNski: That could be the explanation.
beautiful, strange but really really beautiful
I don't knpo Mary but the cloud and the tree make a good image against this sky.
The dye didn't run properly... smile Smashing shot.

It's a mystery to me, Mary. I think it's all down to the angle of the sun at the time. Mind you, now I look closer , it would seem that there are several layers of cloud and there's a whole in the bottom red layer which allows the upper clouds to show through white as they are in the shadow of the lower clouds.

Phew! Time for lunch!

A beautiful capture. In my opinion, in addition to the white cloud, the tree silhouette makes the shot.
Lovely image, Mary - I guess that the white cloud was lower level and catching a different light.
Very weird Mary.
I don't know how it does it, but it makes a great sky, I like the silhouette of the tree smile

I see what you mean about the wisps. Under your guidance I see them lower than the coloured cloud. Someone spoke to me and when I looked backed they are not wisps but less clear holes in the cloud. It is getting weirder.

So I will stop looking and just remember it as beautiful.
Its gorgeous Mary...Glad you caught it.
Perhaps it is Alopecia

Amazing fiery sky Mary
