photoblog image Sundown in Caledonia

Sundown in Caledonia

I don't have a photo dramatic enough to match today's music unless I was to feature an awesome sunset.  The english translation of the title would be 'Tears' so I've chosen a sundown image of one of the old buildings I've featured here in the past. From this angle and the little bit of light, the building looks pretty good but this other view could bring a few tears:

It might need more than just a lick of paint Mary
Mary MacADNski: It is destined to rot to the ground. The land was bought for the soil and the farmer is not interested in the house.
I tried the link but Firefox crashed so I will just enjoy the picturesmile
Mary MacADNski: You should try it again. It will give you shivers.

Maybe in sepia I would like it even better...
Mary MacADNski: I don't do sepia.
How do buildings come to this Mary?
Mary MacADNski: The houses get really run down and would cost more to fix than building a new one. This house is surrounded bu acreage that was purchased for potatoes. The farmer uses the barn to store things.
I hate to see empty buildings just being left to fall into disrepair,
Mary. I`m sure this would make a lovely home for someone. You have captured the rather sad atmosphere very well. (:o)
Mary MacADNski: It would cost more to fix it than build a new one. This happens quite often.

This house is becoming an old friend. A very photogenic one, mind you.
Mary MacADNski: I have a couple of this building but not as many as the one that is collapsing so wonderfully. You've seen that one many times.

Lovely shot. Its face is a bit sagging but that's normal with age smile
Mary MacADNski: So that's what happened to my face!
A fine old house that has certainly seen better days Mary.
Mary MacADNski: That's right. It was probably filled with families for many years.

She's been an elegant home, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: A typical old island farmhouse. Left to rot, it is an interesting blip in the landscape.
Sad to see, what was once a nice home, neglected like this. One always ponders the story behind a scene like this.
Mary MacADNski: This I know: This house is surrounded by acreage that was purchased for potatoes. The farmer uses the barn to store things.
looks like it is falling down, Mary. looks like it would be a nice fixer-upper wink
Mary MacADNski: I think it would cost more to fix up than to build a new one. Sad though.
