photoblog image Partridges Under An Apple Tree

Partridges Under An Apple Tree

On Tuesday I had a flock of nine partridges spend the day in my yard.  They went from apple tree to apple tree, spending about an hour under each one.  Under each tree they had a snack, then a nap.

A cute little covey Mary
Mary MacADNski: They were really cute!
not much fun for them in the snow...but shouldn't it be pears?
Mary MacADNski: Life is not a song - no matter what the song says.
And I bet they kept you and your camera occupied for a good part of the day. How did they cope with the cats?
Mary MacADNski: I was occupied by them the whole day. LOL Kept going from window to window. The cats didn't notice but I've trained the cats not to harm birds so even if they were out together, the cats wouldn't bother them.
A brace would do nicely in the pot! Apple fed should be tasty smile
Mary MacADNski: I guess so, for some, but as I read further, not for all.

Delightful photo. They look plump and happy!
Mary MacADNski: They really were cute.
You are so fortunate to have these birds visit your yard, Mary. I have yet to see even one in ours. Perhaps we need to plant an apple tree or two.
Mary MacADNski: I have an excellent property for birds of all types. I'm blessed.
The snow arrived then Mary..Nice picture.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, winter arrived. It's not been too bad.
How lovely to have these birds in your garden smile
Mary MacADNski: Yes, it was wonderful to watch them.
Over here somebody would have tried to shoot them Mary all in the name of sport, how lucky to have them round your garden.
Mary MacADNski: Luckily no one with a gun found this family.
Its always exciting to have new birds visit your property. With me by the time I get the camera they have often scarpered
Mary MacADNski: I have a great property for a lot of different birds. It is fun to watch them.
What a nice sight, a Pear tree would have gone nicely with Partridges smile
Mary MacADNski: They like apples as much as pears. We can pretend though.

I suppose they were disoriented by the cold and could not find their pear tree...
Mary MacADNski: My property is heaven for birds of all kinds. I have over a dozen apple trees that provide sustenance in the cold winter.
