photoblog image Spring Robin

Spring Robin

This robin is very thin after flying home from her southern winter vacation, settling down and starting a family. She will be a nice fat robin again in a short time.  Of course this is from last year as at this moment, snow still covers the ground and more is falling from the sky.

She certainly looks like her reserves are depleted, Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, some robins stay all winter and are fat but the ones who fly in from the south are thin.
The signs of spring are everywhere present...
Mary MacADNski: Not many signs here though I heard chickadees singing their spring calls the other day.

Great photo Mary I like the flowers in the back ground
Mary MacADNski: Flowers will brighten a day.
I can hear you longing for real spring to arrive soon!! In my garden the first daffodils have emerged, and are in full bloom now, soon it will be a feast of yellow!! Hang in there Mary. Eventually there will be sunshine again
Mary MacADNski: There is a prediction for an early spring. That is good as we have so much snow, it's unbelievable.

Oh my, Mary. The never-ending winter. You poor thing! Thank God you have these images from last year.
Mary MacADNski: It is record breaking amounts of snow this year. Lets hope it melts and sinks into the ground with not too much rain.

Mmm, yes. We get more signs of autumn, but that is OK as it is officially the second day of autumn.

Soon, the fat, fat robin will come a bob' bobbin' along. Chop a few pieces of firewood for the last two weeks.
Mary MacADNski: We have long winters here. Our daffodils bloom late april whereas they are blooming in Ireland now.

And instinct compells them to do it - a miracle of sorts
Mary MacADNski: A mystery, and yes a miracle.

Good colours in this Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Chad. The tulips were in their last stages it seems.
So different from our cheeky little fat robins.
Mary MacADNski: This one is very thin. Here's a better one but it too is not a fat robin.

Great capture Mary. I love the colours!
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Richard.
Excellent shot Mary, sorry you are still having snow.
Mary MacADNski: It has been quite a winter - a record breaker.
Hope springs eternal, Mary. We will eventually see the robin.

The flowers & dandelions are a wonderful addition to the scene.
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Beverly. It has been quite a winter and my flowers are a long way off. Posting last year's will have to do for now.
We could all do with last years spring, you more than anybody by the sounds of it, our Robins are a bit chubbier smile
Mary MacADNski: This is a very thin robin. Here is a fatter one and it is not all that fat either.

Summer is over here, the thaw must be in sight soon Mary
Mary MacADNski: Oh my! It has been a very snowy winter, breaking a few records. I need some spring colours.
like this shot the bird is in focus while the background is not too blurred to detract fromt he colours...nice one
Mary MacADNski: Thanks so much. I don't do any post processing of my shots so they certainly could be improved.
Your robins are very different to ours but still very attractive birds
Mary MacADNski: Here's a nicer one but it too isn't as fat as the usual.
