Still Standing, 09 November 2011

Many, many times you have seen this building that I photograph to capture it's deterioration. Lat fall, Bill asked if I had been there recently and I had plans to go that very week.  I sent him some shots taken at the time but did not post one. I wish I had not cut the corner of the building in this one.  I have copies where the building is complete but I liked the colour in this one. This previous one was in May.

Love the dramatic perspective, and the impressive foreground of colourful weeds and grasses, Mary.

The collapsing mansion is a bonus.
Mary MacADNski: I love the weeds and grasses too. I plan to go there on the 3rd of May (if the weather is decent) to see how it fared the winter.
Hi Mary... Very interesting... as there is much to take in here. It makes me think the house was just dropped from a tornado... before it smashes into bits. Cool.
Mary MacADNski: It will collapse one of these days. I will show you the photos here for sure.
I like this angle even more Mary....the top left section looks like the puzzle was not been finished grin....good shot....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I've been showing this for a number of years and it never gets boring.

A photo op if I ever saw one, Mary. It would make a good movie prop, too, methinks.

BTW, the link to May's picture isn't working...but I think I remember it from almost a year ago!
Mary MacADNski: Sorry about that link. I should have checked. Here it is:

It might be adviseable not to get too close!
Mary MacADNski: I would make sure my tetanus shots were up to date.

After many years they are still standing - maybe a little push smile
Mary MacADNski: If you want to walk that close. Get your tetanus shots up to date.

... but barely
Mary MacADNski: Yes,just a little push....
Oh dear it is slowly sinking into oblivion.
Mary MacADNski: I can't wait to see it again in a week or so.
I love the angle of this photograph Mary. It looks like a very intresting building. Very nice foreground with the colourful weeds and grass.
Mary MacADNski: I usually take the shots from this angle as it is how it is situated. It does have such an interesting layer of weeds.

It has a real life in it and refuses to let go
Mary MacADNski: I love this old thing!
Love Jacquelyn's description. I can just imagine seeing that happen in slow motion.

Looks like it was quite a substantial home in its heyday.
Mary MacADNski: There are lots of these old relics and wouldn't you love to get the story.
We're not in Kansas anymore Toto! smile
Mary MacADNski: No, were' on PEI!!!!
Looks as though an old film set has been dumped in a field smile
Mary MacADNski: Would be great for a scene in a movie.
It is hanging on in there Mary. I love the foreground colours
Mary MacADNski: Each version I give, I include that foreground. I love it!
Fascinating old building, when it eventually collapses there will be plenty of firewood for someone
Mary MacADNski: You would need special footwear to go in there and have extra tetanus protection.
Great picture, Mary. Keep on visiting.
Mary MacADNski: I get there a couple of times a year.

What a great shame that these have been allowed to go to such a state. I would be surprised if they lasted another winter.
Mary MacADNski: I will keep track, Alan.
I love the vintage feel. I see a lot of deteriorating barns when I take trips to Oregon. There's something so neat about them. They look like they might fall at any minute.
Mary MacADNski: I spent the day hiking and got a few shots of some.
I can see why you have photographed it so many times. "Magnificent desolation".
Mary MacADNski: I will see it again soon too.
