The capture of the wings movement is great Mary... ah nice family.
Mary MacADNski: She was successful and she was early. Sometimes it is hard for them to get a family. The nests get robbed.

Just like this, kids...a flap and a flip and you are free...
Mary MacADNski: Exactly. I love watching them year after year.
Superb timing--a great contrast with the birds below...
Mary MacADNski: I fixed it today in Picasa and it is better. I wish I'd waited to post it.

They look a bit young to fly Mary
Mary MacADNski: They are not ready for flight but Mom is teaching them what to do. They mimic her movements, stretching their wings. The three in the back are paying attention. Their necks are extended and their wing buds are out while they scoot along.
Hahaha!! Too cute! Lovely shot mary!
Mary MacADNski: I straightened it in Picasa today and it is much nicer.

Oh Mother, tell your children not to do what I have done!

This picture is a song of summer.
Mary MacADNski: I love watching them. Some years a duck has a hard time to get a flock. Eggs from nests can get robbed several times before she is successful. This was a lucky duck!
I hear him quack...
Mary MacADNski: She does do some quacking. Sometimes you know why; sometimes not.
I think they are still a little too young to fly smile It's good that she has managed to keep so many of her chicks - swans and herons will gobble up the young ones.
Mary MacADNski: These are the earliest of lessons. The herons and ducks co-habitate quite well but raccoons and foxes. The next shot or one close to this one shows the heron next to them. I may post it later in the week.
Nice shot Mary,I was watching a similar scene only the other day.
Mary MacADNski: They are so cute. I raised them for a few years when the kids were young. Really fun!

Not bad for a beginner Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Definitely, Chad. The others will catch on soon too.

Now follow me kids
Mary MacADNski: It is so fun to watch them every year.
Good shot Mary, you are obviously quite near to water at your house then.
Mary MacADNski: Yes, I have a duck pond.
Fantastic capture, Mary. Love how you caught her with her beak open like that; almost looks as if she is giving instructions to the young ones.
Mary MacADNski: I straightened it today in Picasa and wish I'd waited to post it. I am going to post some more of the ducks. They are so cute.
