Lucky Lilies

These lilies were untagged and on sale for next to give away prices.  I rescued them and put them in a big garden pot I first planted 26 years ago.  I want to refurbish the pot but the bachelor buttons I planted in 1985 are still so faithful, I am once again looking at actual thatch in the pot. Maybe next year.

Faithful batchelors...ye gawds!

What kind of place is PEI!


Love the untagged lilies...if they remain unclaimed then you could always name them something like:

Mary's Marvels

Mary MacADNski: I thought you would be remarking on the little green fly on the top, larger lily. In PEI the only place to find a bachelor is in a pot of flowers. The human kind are few and far between.

You certainly hit the jackpot with these untagged lilies, Mary. They turned out to be beauties.
Mary MacADNski: I was pleased as, I had no yellow ones of this type and ended up with two varieties. The paler one is much taller which is not all that evident as I am looking down.
A nice bouquet, and really live as well, not even in a vase. THe POV angle is great!!
Mary MacADNski: I like them indoors very much. I have many vases filled at the moment - at every moment.

I think I would leave it alone, it looks beautiful as it is, gorgeous colours smile
Mary MacADNski: The weeds (grass, clover, wild babies breath) have formed a thatch. I had to work hard to plant these lilies a couple of years ago. I planted it so long ago and have had many, many things in here for a while. Only the bachelor's buttons stay forever.

Leave it as it is Mary. It looks lovely!
Mary MacADNski: Heck, it should look good, I've weeded it a few times and water and enrich it but the weeds (grass, clover, wild babies breath) have formed a thatch. I had to work hard to plant these lilies a couple of years ago.

Well they have certainly thrived in your climate Mary
Mary MacADNski: Lilies grow perfectly well here. There is some trouble with a lily beetle but it is not an epidemic.

Someone's maiden aunt thought up the name of faithful bachelors.
In my scheme of gardening, this pot would have an endless lease on life.
Mary MacADNski: I called them faithful bachelors. They are called bachelor's buttons.

Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Ginnie. I usually only notice the insects when I see the shot on the computer, rarely when I am taking the picture. I would think that Ray is quite different.
They really are beautiful Lillies Mary, such wonderful colours.
Mary MacADNski: I liked them too. A fun way to buy a plant, untagged so you have no idea what you're getting.
