photoblog image Eagle at Victoria Park

Eagle at Victoria Park

On Wednesday I saw this eagle in the low tide zone of Victoria Park, a popular park in Charlottetown. I arrived a few minutes late, I was told, to see the eagle land with all number of crows and gulls divebombing it. It was still a mighty sight which I can see better because I snapped a shot.  I couldn't see the detail, for instance, that this was a fish.  Someone told me it was a dead gull but it is a fish.

Oh, there are a few boats at anchor.

We walk in this park but happened to be driving for An Island Walk.

Great photo he looks rather large
Mary MacADNski: He was a medium, I would say. It was unusual to see an eagle in the city.

The nearby gull gives some sense of the size of this seaside raptor, Mary.

Nice catch!
Mary MacADNski: That's a small shorebird, actually much smaller than a gull. The eagle would be a medium or med-large eagle.
Nothing like a Bald Eagle to take command of a photo on Boat Friday! Great job!
Mary MacADNski: It was this week, on Wed.
Fantastic capture of the Eagle Mary.... and he had a nice Boat Friday background to boot.... well done....petersmile
Mary MacADNski: I was glad to have driven through the park.

I bet that surprised everyone, Mary, to see the eagle on the shoreline. For him I imagine it was a buffet of goodies...easier than divebombing?
Mary MacADNski: I think he had the fish with him when he landed. Just wanted to go to the park to eat it. Many people do that, me included.

Victoria Park is the name of the local park in Bath where I grew up Mary.
Mary MacADNski: This Victoria Park was involved with a afternoon till nighttime event held in pubic spaces (parks). I got home after midnight last night.

I would have been so amazed to see it, I would have forgot to take a picture, lovely sight smile
Mary MacADNski: I'm glad I was able to go down the street and find a parking place. The park has one way traffic and this sight was at the very end.
What a creature to see just like that, you timing was fortuitous and impeccable Mary.
Mary MacADNski: Very fortuitous. I'm glad I was able to go down the street and find a parking place. The park has one way traffic and this sight was at the very end.
just a lonely bird looking for worms.
Mary MacADNski: He is a bald eagle who landed in a city park with a fish. Eagles rarely if ever come into the park.
Perhaps you should start "Eagle Friday" Mary!
Mary MacADNski: I think not. The boat idea is great.

One of the better boat Friday pictures today smile
Mary MacADNski: Thanks, Louis. It was just this week and so unusual to see an eagle here in a city park.
He is a big bird! I think the boats are incidental grin
Mary MacADNski: It was so strange to see an eagle in a city park. He had caught lunch and wanted to go to the park to eat it. Many people do that, me included.

An eagle is definitely a great capture!! Congrats!
Mary MacADNski: I see eagles all the time in the country but never in a city park!
